Wildlife

Around Kingslake, from your patio, sitting by the lakes, in the gardens or walking across the fields and in the woods, you will be amazed at the number of birds to be seen. There are many bird feeders around and you are sure to see a woodpecker on the nut feeder or a pheasant or partridge pecking the ground underneath. When fishing a robin is sure to sit beside you and blue tits will perch on your rod and try to steal your maggots!

At night there is no traffic noise at Kingslake, but you will usually hear and sometimes see the owls. Also at night, children will enjoy looking for glow worms which can be seen in the summer, along the side of the path by the wood. At dusk the bats can be observed swooping over the lakes searching for insects

Depending on the time of year ( and how quiet you are ) you may also see deer, foxes and badgers. Wild rabbits play and run around the lawns and fields. By the wildlife pond and the lakes you will see dragonflies, frogs (or frog spawn), water insects and small creatures such as voles. Buzzards can frequently be seen soaring above or perching on fence posts.
